Texas’ New Propane Infrastructure

More tanks, more pipes, more peace of mind.

Published on August 14, 2025

If you’ve lived in the Hill Country long enough, you know propane isn’t just a “nice-to-have.” It’s what keeps your home warm, your stove cooking, and your backup generator ready for action when ERCOT starts looking shaky.

The good news? Texas just got a big propane boost, and several major energy projects are making sure the fuel you rely on is here when you need it.

New Terminals Mean More Supply

This summer, a major new LPG export terminal on the Texas Gulf Coast received its first tanker.

  • The first phase, opening later this year, will move over 100,000 barrels of propane per day.
  • The second phase, planned for next year, will more than double that capacity.

For Hill Country customers, that means propane will flow more smoothly from production sites to local suppliers, reducing the risk of fuel shortages when demand spikes.

Pipelines & Storage Are Expanding

A large investment in Texas’ propane pipeline and storage network is underway, connecting production areas in West Texas to storage and shipping points along the coast.

The benefit for you? When the Hill Country gets hit by a cold snap or storm, supply can be rerouted quickly, helping prevent long waits for delivery.

Record Propane Production

Natural gas liquid production in Texas is hitting all-time highs, thanks to increased output from key production regions. This means more propane in the system, improving supply stability year-round.

Local Events Strengthening the Industry

Closer to home, the Texas Propane Gas Association’s Crossroads Propane Expo is taking place this August. This event brings together suppliers, safety experts, and industry leaders to focus on reliability, pricing, and innovation in our state’s propane market.

Bottom Line for Hill Country Families & Ranchers

Big investments in Texas propane infrastructure might sound like something for energy executives to worry about, but they mean something simple for your home or ranch:

  • More reliable deliveries year-round
  • Better backup power readiness during outages
  • Less risk of running out during winter spikes

When the propane flows more freely across Texas, you feel the difference right at home.
