The first European settler of Dripping Springs was named Fawcett. He arrived in this region around 1849, and in the years that followed, he was joined by other families looking for good farmland in the area. By 1857, Dripping Springs had a post office. By the 1880s, there was a gristmill, a cotton gin and the Dripping Springs Academy. Our city is known as “the Gateway to the Hill Country.”
