As the city located closest to the geographic center of the Lone Star State, Brady is known as the Heart of Texas, so it stands to reason that one of our original offices was here.
The Spanish first explored the area where our city sits in the late 18th century, and the first settlers arrived in the 1870s. The city’s name was initially Brady City. (It was shortened in 1908.) We became the county seat of McCullogh County in 1876.
Some of our most famous residents have included the country singer Norma Jean and Rita Crocker Clements, who was the First Lady of Texas while her husband, Bill Clements, was governor.
